Is the new scheme more flexible for members?

There is one main difference between the LGPS 2015 and its predecessors that improves the flexibility of the Scheme.

It’s the 50/50 option which enablesyou to pay half your normal contributions and get half your normal pension. (You still get full life assurance cover even though you're paying half contributions). The 50/50 option allows flexibility in times of financial hardship and is designed as a short-term measure for when times are tough.
